Building a Dedicated Digital Home

A Digital Approach to Drive Growth

Role: Web Designer/Developer | Social Media Marketer | Thumbnail Creator
Tools: Figma/FigJam, WordPress, Google Suite, Zoom
Duration: September 2023 – August 2024

The Challenge

The podcast lacked visibility and consistent engagement. Without a website, listeners had no single place to access content, and inconsistent social media branding made it difficult for the audience to recognize the podcast, limiting growth.

The Solution

I designed 100+ custom thumbnails to create a consistent brand identity across social platforms. I also edited videos for short-form content on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels, increasing engagement. Additionally, I built a user-friendly website that centralized all podcast content, making it easily accessible and boosting audience interaction and visibility.

Crafting a Unified Brand Across Social Media

Crafting Social Media Impact I edited fast-paced, engaging short-form content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, using sharp cuts and captions to hook viewers quickly. I also created over 100 consistent, eye-catching thumbnails to boost recognition. Collaborating with the social media team, we developed strategies that significantly increased reach and engagement, driving more interaction and solidifying the podcast’s brand presence.

Competitor Analysis and User Research

Before building the website, I carried out in-depth competitor analysis and user research. I evaluated successful podcast websites to understand what they were doing well and where they were falling short. Most focused on providing easy access to episodes and information about the podcast, but many lacked a personal connection to the host or deeper insights into the values behind the show.

Through user research, I discovered that listeners wanted more than just access to episodes. They craved insight into the podcast’s purpose, a personal connection to the host, and quick, seamless navigation across all platforms. Armed with this knowledge, I made sure that every design choice for the website and social platforms was user-centric, focused on addressing the real needs of the audience. I aligned these design decisions with the podcast owner’s vision to ensure authenticity and build trust with listeners.

User Personas

From the research, I developed a user persona that became a guiding force for the entire project. The persona allowed me to keep the target audience’s needs and preferences front and center while ensuring that the website and social media were designed to engage and retain listeners.

Establishing a Visual Identity

Before developing the website, I established a consistent visual identity to guide both the website and social media presence. This ensured that every touchpoint, from the website to social platforms, had a unified look and feel that resonated with the podcast's audience.

Color Palette

Selected colors that reflected the podcast’s energy and tone, ensuring brand recognition across all platforms.

Typography

Chose fonts that were both readable and stylistically aligned with the podcast’s personality.

Imagery and Graphics

Defined a consistent style for visuals, including episode thumbnails and social media graphics, to enhance the brand's identity.

Website Mockups & Iteration Process

After carefully crafting the website’s design and development, the public launch was the final step in creating a central platform for You Ask We Podcast. The launch wasn’t just about going live—it was about ensuring a seamless, high-performance user experience. Optimized for speed and mobile responsiveness, the website provided easy navigation, enhanced content accessibility, and encouraged user interaction. This successful launch helped grow the podcast's audience, solidifying its digital identity and creating a go-to hub for listeners to engage with content.
